sum to summit

Just when I thought old projects stay in the past, inspiration hits ya right when you least expect it.

I wanted to launch a sustainable clothing line in 2015 called “the sum of it all”. It was exciting for someone who went to Fashion Design school. I was passionate, excited, but reality sank in. My concept was not feasible, the idea I was focusing on failed. It also took a lot more capital than I anticipated. I invested a lot of time and money into this “idea” and it just didn’t work out. And that’s okay. I tried and that’s all I could do. I don’t regret it.

After working in the fashion industry for 4 years, I turned 28 years old and I start to think that this really isn’t for me. You get to a certain point where you realize you’re not helping people, you’re not making a difference, you’re not happy. ”You’re just making clothes.” That didn’t settle with me. Prayers were answered and the opportunity opened up, so I took it. And I haven’t looked back.

In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic,  I had a lot more time on my hands. A lot of it. I wasn’t reporting to work, so here I am at home. I’m able to do the things I wanted if I “just had the time”. I got around to editing my honeymoon video from October 2019. I started filming and editing again, something I really enjoy doing. I brought out my sewing machine again, and surprisingly, remembered how to work it. I patterned and sewed up a bunch of masks. I’m collaborating with my fellow coordinators to revamp up our programs for the next faith formation year… creative mode is in full effect!

Of course, the tsoia brand came back to mind. A project that I once thought was long gone, keeps returning to the forefront of my mind. I’m a creative body. I want to create. How do I “rebrand” tsoia to serve my new mission? I started coming up with different acronyms. Then my husband tells me, I like “the source of it all, like the source and summit of the Faith.” And BAMMM! It clicked— summit. Adding those 3 letters transformed the meaning and I am here for it. I’m here to help others and make a difference. Everything happens for a reason and at the right time.

Looking forward to create and share what I’ve learned over the years.
